Under the patronage of Libya’s Attorney General, Counselor Al-Siddiq Ahmed Al-Sour, and as part of the Public Prosecution’s commitment to fostering legal awareness and strengthening social partnership in the face of modern challenges, representatives of the Libyan Public ProsecutionMr. Mohamed Ali Al-Aswad, Executive Director of the Center for Criminal Research and Training, and Mr. Abdulsalam Al-Dafiar — held an extensive discussion session on the background and activities of the 2025 International Public Prosecution Book Fair, exploring its philosophy, vision, and social impact.

During the session, members of the Public Prosecution met with the Arab press delegation, engaging in an open dialogue about the objectives of the fair, its cultural and legal significance, and the vital role of media institutions in spreading public awareness.

Both speakers presented the fair as a pioneering intellectual initiative inspired by the philosophy of “from the part to the whole” — evolving from the specialized judicial role of the Public Prosecution into a comprehensive national platform for enlightenment, designed to educate citizens about their rights and duties and to foster a culture of crime prevention before occurrence, transforming justice into a living cultural and intellectual value within society.

They emphasized that the fair’s mission extends far beyond the confines of law, encompassing a broad national partnership that includes law faculties, academic institutions, and professionals across the legal, criminal, social, cultural, economic, and political spheres, reflecting the integrated vision of the state and its endeavor to build a responsible, aware, and critically engaged society.

The fair, they noted, has grown into a national intellectual platform that aims to cultivate a citizen capable of critical thinking, legal understanding, and constructive participation — one who values justice as a cornerstone of peace and coexistence in a rapidly changing world.

Participants shared valuable insights and proposals for developing the third edition of the fair, scheduled for 2026, which is expected to represent a qualitative leap in both form and content, through wider institutional participation and more diverse activities such as lectures, workshops, and interdisciplinary forums blending law, education, and culture.

Within this forward-looking vision, several key recommendations were introduced:

  1. Transforming the fair into a permanent national platform for dialogue between law and society.
  2. Expanding academic and regional participation to promote the exchange of legal and intellectual expertise.
  3. Integrating education, culture, health, art, sports, and economy into the fair’s broader civic message.
  4. Launching parallel educational initiatives targeting school and university students to foster a legally conscious generation.
  5. Enhancing the digital and media dimensions to broaden the fair’s reach and public engagement locally and internationally.

Thus, the fair’s vision unfolds as a journey of enlightenment — beginning with its foundation as a legal and cultural initiative, evolving from institutional specialization to national inclusiveness, and culminating in tangible outcomes that shape an aware, analytical, and balanced citizen, capable of navigating globalization’s complex realities with critical insight and civic responsibility.

The International Public Prosecution Book Fair stands today not merely as a cultural event, but as a national project for awareness and intellectual revival, redefining the relationship between justice and knowledge, and transforming the book into a tool for building human consciousness and societal harmony rather than a simple object of display or acquisition.
