CAIRO — Türkiye’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, H.E. Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, attended the grand inauguration ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Cairo, accompanied by H.E. Salih Mutlu Şen, Ambassador of Türkiye to Egypt. The landmark event, held under the auspices of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, marked the opening of what is now the largest archaeological museum in the world.

Minister Ersoy expressed his admiration for Egypt’s cultural achievement, describing the museum — often called “the Fourth Pyramid” — as “a magnificent tribute to human history and civilization.” He highlighted the museum’s remarkable collection, which includes the treasures of Tutankhamun, the Solar Boat of Pharaoh Khufu, and a vast array of priceless artifacts from ancient Egyptian history.

“The Grand Egyptian Museum stands as a luminous cultural initiative that illuminates the shared heritage of humankind,” Ersoy said. “I believe that every step taken to preserve and pass down cultural heritage strengthens the friendship and cultural cooperation between our two nations.”

The attendance of the Turkish delegation underscored the growing spirit of cultural diplomacy and cooperation between Türkiye and Egypt, reflecting a mutual commitment to protecting global heritage and promoting dialogue through culture.
