In the serene setting of the Turkish Ambassador’s residence in Cairo—where compassion meets diplomacy—Egyptian MP and journalist Osama Sharshar, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Nahar newspaper, delivered a moving speech in solidarity with the people of Gaza.

The event, hosted by Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen, was attended by Ambassador Diab Al-Louh, Palestine’s envoy to Egypt, in a moment that symbolized unity among Egypt, Turkey, and Palestine—three nations bound by shared grief, history, and hope.

Egypt’s Enduring Commitment to Palestine

Sharshar opened his remarks by reaffirming Egypt’s historical and moral responsibility toward Palestine, declaring that “Egypt has always stood as a guardian for our brothers in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem—the eternal capital of the State of Palestine.”

He reminded attendees that over 159 nations have recognized the State of Palestine, and that Egypt continues to play a central role in defending that legitimacy. Citing former U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, Sharshar emphasized how Egyptian intelligence diplomacy—in collaboration with Qatar, Turkey, and the United States—was instrumental in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza after a brutal two-year conflict.

“Hamas Must Commit to Peace”

Turning to the internal Palestinian situation, Sharshar delivered a frank and urgent message to Hamas, calling on the movement to respect the ceasefire, honor international commitments, and recognize President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) as the legitimate representative of the unified Palestinian state.

“The Palestinian people,” Sharshar warned, “have borne the cost of reckless adventurism, as have the Arab region and the world. It is time for unity, not division.”

He cautioned that any breach of the truce risks worsening the humanitarian crisis—deepening hunger, displacement, and the loss of innocent lives across Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.

A Night of Diplomatic Conscience

The gathering at Ambassador Şen’s residence was more than a diplomatic courtesy—it was a testament to shared human values. In that evening’s light, Cairo became a capital of conscience, where Egyptian resolve, Turkish empathy, and Palestinian endurance met in harmony.

Sharshar’s address carried both journalistic integrity and statesmanlike wisdom, reflecting Egypt’s leadership in the moral arena of Middle Eastern diplomacy. His words urged all regional actors and the global community to choose peace over pride, and humanity over politics.

The Cairo Spirit Lives On

As the evening drew to a close, one truth became unmistakable: the road to peace is paved with principle, not power. Egypt’s steadfast mediation, Turkey’s active compassion, and Palestine’s enduring resilience together form a beacon for all who still believe in justice and life.

In that gathering, amid heartfelt words and shared conviction, Sharshar’s message echoed beyond the walls of diplomacy:

“Gaza’s survival is not a political debate—it is a moral duty owed by us all.”
