The Chinese documentary “Beloved Land” has been officially selected to participate in the 46th Cairo International Film Festival. The film will be screened at 3:00 p.m. this Thursday at the Creativity Center, Cairo Opera House, followed by a special seminar introducing the film and discussing its themes.

Set in Liuxing neighborhood in Xinjiang, a place painted in hues of blue and white, the film unfolds the quiet harmony of thirteen ethnic communities living side by side.

It follows Tanar, a young Kazakh who leaves his grassland home to chase his dreams in the city, only to encounter the challenges of urban life. Zhao Yue, a young mother, struggles between pleasing others and finding her true self, discovering acceptance through her passion for a small clothing shop. Nur Shati, a Uyghur driver, helps his wife heal from a painful loss, finding solace in shared meals and the soft warmth of their home. And Imam Ma Bin, from the Hui ethnic group, devotes himself to family and community while silently bearing the weight of unspoken regret.

Through the rhythm of the seasons and the sounds of daily life, “Beloved Land” flows gently with the power of love and mutual support — revealing how simple human bonds turn a neighborhood into a home, and a land into something truly beloved.
