Cairo witnessed a symbolic and forward-looking diplomatic moment as China and Egypt launched a new framework of cooperation in press and public diplomacy, reflecting the deepening strategic partnership between the two countries.

Mao Ning, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and Director-General of the Department of Press, Communication and Public Diplomacy, announced the successful holding of the first-ever consultation between the spokespersons of the Chinese and Egyptian foreign ministries. The meeting took place in Cairo with her Egyptian counterpart, Ambassador Tamim, marking what she described as “a new stage of cooperation” between the two ministries.

The consultation represents a qualitative step in strengthening institutional dialogue, particularly in the fields of media engagement, strategic communication, and public diplomacy. By establishing a direct and structured channel between spokespersons, both sides aim to enhance mutual understanding, improve coordination of messaging, and respond more effectively to regional and international developments.

Expressing her satisfaction with the meeting, Mao Ning noted that the consultation reflects the growing maturity of China–Egypt relations and the shared recognition of the media’s role in shaping public perception and fostering people-to-people connectivity. Holding the inaugural session in Cairo underscored Egypt’s central role as a regional diplomatic and media hub.

The dialogue aligns with the broader momentum in bilateral relations, which have expanded in recent years across political, economic, and cultural dimensions. As both countries navigate a rapidly changing global media landscape, the new mechanism is expected to contribute to more transparent communication, stronger narrative cooperation, and closer coordination on issues of common interest.

The Cairo consultation thus stands not merely as a procedural meeting, but as a symbolic convergence of voices—signaling a shared commitment by Beijing and Cairo to deepen diplomatic engagement through dialogue, openness, and strategic communication.
