In a timely diplomatic engagement, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi on March 25 to discuss the rapidly evolving regional and international situation amid rising tensions.

The conversation underscored the growing weight of Egypt–China relations, as both sides reaffirmed their commitment to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Dr. Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the notable progress achieved in bilateral ties in recent years, highlighting the importance of advancing cooperation across economic, financial, and development sectors. The call comes as Cairo and Beijing mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations—an occasion that adds symbolic depth to an already expanding partnership.

Beyond bilateral matters, the discussion focused heavily on the implications of ongoing regional escalation. Both ministers voiced concern over the widening scope of conflict and its far-reaching consequences, particularly on global supply chains, maritime security, energy markets, and food prices. The economic ripple effects, including inflationary pressures, were also a key point of convergence.

In this context, Egypt emphasized the urgency of coordinated international action to de-escalate tensions and prevent further deterioration. Dr. Abdelatty stressed that continued military escalation poses a direct threat not only to regional stability but also to broader international peace and security.

China echoed similar concerns, reinforcing the need for intensified diplomatic efforts and sustained communication among all relevant parties. Both sides agreed on the importance of prioritizing dialogue, political solutions, and conflict containment mechanisms over confrontation.

The call reflects a broader alignment between Cairo and Beijing in advocating for stability through diplomacy. As geopolitical fault lines deepen, this coordination signals a shared interest in shaping a more balanced and crisis-resilient international order—one where strategic partnerships play a pivotal role in mitigating risks and fostering collective security.
