ON August 30, Cairo hosted a showcase highlighting the achievements of a joint Chinese-Egyptian media delegation focused on high-quality Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation. Organized by the People’s Daily, the seminar brought together journalists, scholars, and media representatives from both nations to foster deeper communication, share compelling narratives, and broaden bilateral collaboration.
Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, Liao Liqiang, delivered a video address noting that under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the China-Egypt Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has flourished. Ambassador Liao highlighted their relationship as a premier model of solidarity among developing nations and a benchmark for Sino-Arab and Sino-African cooperation.
Looking ahead to President Xi’s upcoming state visit—his first to Egypt in a decade, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations—Liao emphasized its historic weight in bridging past achievements with future milestones. He added that joint field visits hosted by the People’s Daily allow journalists to experience the tangible warmth of bilateral projects firsthand, deepening mutual understanding and laying a resilient foundation for public support.
Pi Guangjiang, Deputy Director of the International Department at the People’s Daily, highlighted the joint reportage as a pioneering milestone for media collaboration between the two nations. He emphasized plans to strengthen ties through joint coverage, staff exchanges, shared content, technical cooperation, and co-productions—helping the Chinese public appreciate Egypt’s heritage and modern growth, while offering Egyptians a comprehensive view of modern China.
From August 23 to 27, reporters from the People’s Daily teamed up with nearly 30 Egyptian media professionals, experts, and influencers—representing prominent outlets including Al-Ahram, MENA, Al-Akhbar, Al-Gomhuria, Al-Masaa, Nile TV, Rose El-Youssef, Daily News Egypt, Sada El-Balad, and the Diplomatic News Network. The delegation visited the Geely auto plant and showrooms, reported on the Central Business District (CBD) in the New Administrative Capital, toured the TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, observed Chinese language education at Suez Canal University, and explored the Haier Egypt Eco-Industrial Park. Their coverage across print, photo, and video illuminated the dynamic landscape of Chinese-Egyptian cooperation.
