The Embassy of India in Cairo marked the 10th Ayurveda Day on 23 September 2025 with a vibrant celebration in collaboration with academic and research institutions. The event underscored the enduring importance of Ayurveda, India’s ancient and holistic system of medicine, and its growing role in promoting global public health.
This year’s celebrations carried the theme “Ayurveda for One Health, One Earth”, highlighting Ayurveda’s relevance not only in nurturing individual well-being but also in fostering sustainable lifestyles and safeguarding planetary health.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Ambassador Suresh K. Reddy welcomed distinguished guests, including Dr. Mohamed El-Shenawy, President of Galala University, and Dr. Aliaa El-Gendy, Head of the Complementary Medicine Department at the National Research Centre, alongside leading scholars from Galala University, the National Research Centre, and other Egyptian institutions. The discussions emphasized the role of traditional medicine in modern healthcare and explored new avenues for collaboration between India and Egypt in the field of Ayurveda.
A virtual session featured two renowned Ayurveda experts from India—Dr. Preeti Chhabra and Dr. Rinki Thakur—who delivered insightful presentations on therapeutic practices, stressing their relevance to both human health and environmental harmony. A dedicated session on Panchakarma therapy showcased its preventive and curative benefits.
Complementing the discussions, an Ayurveda exhibition displayed medicinal herbs and formulations for treating a range of conditions, attracting keen interest from participants and broadening awareness about Ayurveda’s natural and comprehensive approach to health.
The Cairo celebrations of Ayurveda Day reaffirmed its universal significance as an ancient science of balance between body, mind, and spirit, while offering sustainable solutions to contemporary healthcare challenges. They also highlighted the shared commitment of India and Egypt to advancing cooperation in the realm of traditional medicine.
