Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated during a regular press briefing on June 23 that the recent U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities constitute a serious violation of the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, further aggravating tensions in the Middle East.

Guo emphasized:

“The Security Council cannot remain idle in the face of such a dangerous escalation. In response, China, Russia, and Pakistan have jointly submitted a draft resolution to the Security Council calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, the protection of civilians, adherence to international law, and a return to dialogue and negotiations as the only viable path to resolving disputes.”

He described the move as a “voice of justice”, reflecting the broad expectations of the international community for de-escalation and peace.

Guo concluded by expressing hope that Security Council members will unite in supporting the resolution, enabling the Council to effectively fulfill its mandate of safeguarding international peace and security.
