Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, received Radosław Sikorski, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, on Wednesday, April 16.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel Aty expressed appreciation for the development witnessed in Egyptian-Polish relations, noting the special importance of the Polish Foreign Minister’s visit to Egypt, especially in light of the current Polish presidency of the European Union. He expressed his aspiration to enhance coordination and consultation between the two countries and build on the momentum generated by the first session of the Joint Economic Committee held between the two countries in December 2024. Minister Abdel Aty expressed his aspiration to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and increase Polish investments in Egypt, praising the recent increase in Polish tourism to Egypt.
Minister Abdel-Ati expressed appreciation for Poland’s support for Egyptian issues within the European Union, expressing his aspiration for continued support in light of the economic challenges facing Egypt and its hosting of large numbers of refugees and migrants. In this context, he welcomed the European Parliament’s vote on April 1, 2025, to support the second tranche of the European financial package to Egypt, worth €4 billion.
The two ministers also exchanged views on several regional and international issues, most notably developments in the Gaza Strip. Minister Abdel-Ati reviewed Egypt’s position on the situation in Gaza and the priority of resuming the ceasefire agreement. He also addressed the elements of the Gaza reconstruction plan adopted by Arab and Islamic countries, praising Poland’s position in rejecting the displacement of Palestinians.
The two sides also discussed the latest developments in Syria, Sudan, Libya, and maritime security in the Red Sea, in addition to the Ukrainian crisis.
