SDRPY participates in the Yemen International Forum in Stockholm

The SDRPY is participating in the Yemen International Forum, held in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, and organized by the Sana’a Center for Studies and in cooperation with the Folke Bernadotte Academy, to advance the development and economic paths, and to contribute to strengthening the sessions and workshops in the forum with experiences and visions on development and economic recovery.

During the participation, the SDRPY reviews the program’s experiences, strategy and methodology in implementing development projects and initiatives and strengthening strategic partnerships, as well as its development experiences in creating a new business model to ensure focus on projects with direct impact, while placing the principle of sustainability at the heart of these plans and programs, and translating this into A number of measures that contribute to strengthening institutions and building their capacities for resilience, recovery and sustainable impact.

The head of the SDRPY delegation, Dr. Adel Al-Qassadi, said in his participation: We need to link the humanitarian and development tracks in Yemen, and there is a need for a full vision of economic recovery that does not depend on what donors provide, during participation in the main panel discussion on (economic recovery). Shifting from reliance on humanitarian relief to development support.

The Yemen International Forum, which will last for three days from 17-19 June 2022 AD, will discuss major issues in Yemen related to the political situation, peace endeavors and the economic file.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership and directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense – may God preserve them – is keen to stand by Yemen’s land and people and support Yemen to advance standard of living and economics.

The total that the Kingdom has provided to Yemen only during the past few years since 2015 amounted to more than 19 billion US dollars in humanitarian, relief, development and economic aid, and the total direct Saudi economic and development support provided to the Republic of Yemen amounted to 9.8 billion dollars from 2012 to 2022 AD; They were direct deposits for economic and development support to the Central Bank, the Social Development Fund and oil derivatives.

The latest support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Yemen is the provision of urgent support to the Yemeni economy in the month of April 2022 AD, amounting to (3) billion US dollars, including: Providing (2) billion US dollars equally between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, in support of the Central Bank The Yemeni currency, providing (1) billion US dollars from the Kingdom, including 600 million dollars for the Fund to support the purchase of oil derivatives, and 400 million dollars for development projects and initiatives, which contributed to limiting the collapse of the Yemeni currency and the decrease in the exchange rate of the Yemeni riyal against the dollar by about 36% compared to the exchange rate At the beginning of the Yemeni-Yemeni consultations.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has provided direct development support through its development projects and initiatives implemented by the SDRPY since 2018, in coordination with the Yemeni government and in cooperation with development partners in Yemen from international, regional and international organizations and civil society organizations, where the SDRPY has implemented so far. (207) development projects and initiatives in various Yemeni governorates serving the Yemeni brothers in (7) vital sectors, namely: education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, capacity building of government institutions, in addition to development programs with a total value of (829, $073,978) until 2021, with a total number of beneficiaries (14.6 million beneficiaries) in 14 Yemeni governorates.

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen also supervised the Saudi oil derivatives grant presented on 2021 AD in the amount of 422 million US dollars, whose payments reached the various Yemeni governorates and contributed to improving services in vital sectors, improving the livelihood of Yemeni citizens, raising the capabilities of Yemeni institutions working in the field of electricity, and reducing Electricity outages, as well as the monthly losses, contributed to alleviating the burden on the budget of the Yemeni government.
