Saudi Arabia Participates in HLPF on Sustainable Development Goals 2022

Saudi Arabia is participating in the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2022, which is concerned with the sustainable development goals and the follow-up and acceleration of progress in achieving its plans, as the main platform for the United Nations to follow up on the progress of these seventeen goals, and to review its plans for 2030.

 The work of the forum is scheduled to start on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, until Friday, July 15, 2022 AD, under the title “Rebuilding better after the Covid-19 pandemic with the development of the full implementation process of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan”, where the Kingdom’s presence will be headed by the Ministry of Economy and Planning and the participation of Representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the General Authority for Statistics.

 The Kingdom’s delegation to the forum will be led by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Planning for Policies and Economic Planning Ayman bin Ishaq Afghani, as the forum will address many axes and goals aimed at rebuilding better after Covid-19, and the global view on developing the full implementation of the 2030 sustainable development plan, with a focus on The goals of quality education, gender equality, life underwater and life on land, as well as partnerships to achieve the goals, and stress the importance of international cooperation and commitment to achieving the sustainable development goals taking into account low-income and least developed countries.

 Regarding the Kingdom’s participation in the forum, Ayman Afghani stressed the critical importance of the high-level political forum, saying: “The world is currently going through an important stage that requires all of us to cooperate and know what we need at the present time, and what we should be on in the next stage, so that efforts can bear fruit. Real results that will benefit the local and global levels.”

 During the forum’s activities, the Kingdom’s representatives will highlight the roadmap plan developed by the Kingdom in coordination with stakeholders to achieve the sustainable development goals, and the progress made through programs, initiatives and projects in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

 It is noteworthy that the seventeen sustainable development goals center around a call for all countries to work to promote prosperity and economic growth, and these goals include a range of social needs including education, health, social protection and employment opportunities while addressing climate change and environmental protection.
