‘King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Prize’ for Translation will be awarded to the winners next Thursday in Cairo

 On the thirteenth of October, the Egyptian capital, Cairo, will witness the distribution ceremony of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Translation, in its tenth session, which is held by the King Abdulaziz Public Library and hosted by Cairo University.

 On this occasion, His Excellency the General Supervisor of the King Abdulaziz Public Library, Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Award for Translation, extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Highness the Crown Prince – may God preserve them – for the support and care The library and the generous guidance are held by holding the award ceremony in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, within the global award program launched by the King Abdulaziz Public Library from Riyadh and toured world capitals.

 Ibn Muammar expressed his deep appreciation for the brothers in Egypt’s welcome to host the award ceremony for its winners in its tenth session, which reflects the deep and diverse fraternal and civilized relations that bind Saudi Arabia and Egypt, including the cultural and scientific aspects of which the award expresses a part, as the award seeks to enhance knowledge exchange. In order to achieve mutual benefit from human achievements and to deepen the tools of civilized communication between peoples, based on the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in support of such programs that enhance communication and understanding between different peoples.

 Ibn Muammar stressed that this international award has opened multiple areas for the interaction of Arab and Islamic culture and other cultures in various fields. It contributes to the advancement of the Arab mind and enriches the Arab culture with what is new and distinctive in the field of translation.

 On the other hand, the award will hold several scientific sessions on the occasion of the ceremony, dealing with the problems of translation and its current phenomena.

 It is noteworthy that the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Translation is one of the largest international awards in the field of translation. It was established in October 2006 AD. It presents an appreciation for the efforts of translators and major scientific and academic institutions concerned with translation in the world to provide the best translated works in the fields of humanities and applied sciences from and to Arabic.

 Its previous nine sessions were held in a number of world capitals, namely: Riyadh; And Beijing, Toledo, Sao Paulo, Geneva, Paris, Casablanca and Berlin, and 60 Arab and foreign countries participated in its various sessions, while the number of works nominated in it until its tenth session reached more than (1500), translated into (41) languages, It was won by (123) winners.
