The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (LAS) has expressed its appreciation for the distinguished diplomatic efforts and effective mediation by the Sultanate of Oman, which led to a ceasefire agreement in Yemen, in coordination with efforts by the United States.

In an official statement, the League noted that if implemented, the agreement could help alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people, de-escalate the current military tension, and positively contribute to ongoing diplomatic efforts to halt the Israeli aggression on Gaza, as well as other key regional issues.

The Arab League emphasized that the agreement is also expected to support the restoration of maritime security in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of international commercial shipping through the region’s vital waterways.

The statement reaffirmed the League’s full commitment to its resolutions in support of Yemen’s legitimate government and its efforts to preserve the unity and sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen.
