As part of efforts to further strengthen the growing bilateral relations between India and Egypt, a high-level Indian parliamentary delegation—comprising representatives from multiple political parties and led by the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Ms. Supriya Sule—continued its official engagements in Cairo on the second day of its visit. The delegation held a series of high-level meetings with senior Egyptian officials, representatives of the League of Arab States, as well as prominent figures from the media and intellectual circles.
The delegation began its engagements with a meeting with H.E. Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt. Both sides acknowledged the growing momentum in the strategic partnership between India and Egypt and reaffirmed their shared stance against terrorism. The Indian delegation expressed deep appreciation for Egypt’s strong condemnation of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, viewing it as a gesture of solidarity and friendship. For his part, Foreign Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s full solidarity with India and welcomed enhanced bilateral cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts.
At the League of Arab States, the delegation met with H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League. The two sides discussed the wide-ranging political, economic, and cultural partnership between India and the Arab world. They emphasized the importance of sustainable multilateral cooperation and the need to prioritize joint efforts in combating terrorism.
The delegation also visited the War Memorial in Heliopolis, Cairo, where they laid wreaths in honor of the many Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during the First and Second World Wars. The visit underscored the enduring historical ties and shared sacrifices between India and Egypt.
In a high-level roundtable led by H.E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, former Foreign Minister of Egypt, the delegation engaged in a meaningful dialogue with a distinguished group of Egyptian intellectuals, prominent media figures, and opinion-makers. The delegation reiterated India’s principled stance and collective resolve in countering terrorism and expressed appreciation for Egypt’s continued support in this regard.
The visit also garnered significant media attention. Leading Egyptian outlets interviewed members of the delegation, who shared India’s perspectives on counter-terrorism, regional cooperation, and people-centric diplomacy.
These engagements affirmed the shared commitment of India and Egypt to further strengthening their strategic partnership and confronting the global threat of terrorism.
