Helwan’s Torch of Excellence… A New Dawn in Egypt’s Academic Journey

The Egypt Government Excellence Award has unveiled the results of the first edition of Helwan University’s Internal Excellence Award 2025, organized in cooperation with the Supreme Council of Universities. This milestone reflects Egypt’s commitment to embedding a culture of institutional excellence across its higher education landscape.

The announcement came during a special session of the judging committee, attended by:

  • Ambassador Hisham Badr, General Supervisor of the Egypt Government Excellence Award
  • Ms. Soha Saeed, Executive Director of the Award
  • Dr. Ahmed Seddik, Director of Evaluation and Quality
  • Prof. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University
  • Prof. Mona Hagrass, Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities
  • Committee members including Prof. Ashraf Abd El-Basset, representing Hertfordshire University, and Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, former President of Tanta University

The meeting reviewed the award journey at Helwan University, which included the training of 24 Excellence Ambassadors and 14 internal evaluators, amassing more than 2,300 training hours. The evaluation phase comprised both desk reviews and on-site visits to eight faculties, totaling over 1,300 hours of assessment.

The rigorous process concluded with the qualification of three faculties to represent Helwan University in the Egypt Government Excellence Award 2026:

  • Faculty of Education
  • Faculty of Arts
  • Faculty of Mataria Engineering

This achievement stands as a testament to Helwan University’s dedication to fostering institutional excellence and innovation within Egypt’s academic sphere.
