After a three-year pause, the Korean Ambassador’s Taekwondo Championship returns to Cairo, igniting the spirit of competition and friendship on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Cairo International Stadium in Nasr City. The event gathers athletes, fans, and lovers of Korean culture for three vibrant days of sportsmanship and cultural exchange.
Organized in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Egypt, the Korean Cultural Center, and the Egyptian Taekwondo Federation, with support from the Korea Taekwondo Promotion Foundation, this year’s edition marks the first since 2022—reviving a beloved tradition that had paused during the pandemic.
The tournament serves as a dynamic platform to promote Taekwondo across Egypt and to strengthen the cultural and athletic ties between the two nations. The competition includes 18 weight categories, divided into four sections for male and female youth over 17, and five for juniors under 17, offering audiences a rich display of agility, precision, and discipline.
Adding to the excitement, the event will feature a special performance by the world-renowned Kukkiwon Demonstration Team, part of the World Taekwondo Academy, celebrated for their technical mastery and artistic choreography. Cairo will be the first stop in their regional tour, which will continue to Tunisia and Morocco.
Kukkiwon, as the global headquarters of the World Taekwondo Federation, is dedicated to preserving and advancing the art’s spirit and techniques. With 168 national federations under its umbrella, its demonstration team has toured the world, symbolizing Korea’s martial artistry—where discipline meets grace.
Oh Sung-ho, Director of the Korean Cultural Center in Egypt, emphasized:
“This championship reflects the enduring depth of friendship between Korea and Egypt. As we celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations, it stands as a shining symbol of cultural and sporting exchange that continues to strengthen the bond between our peoples.”
