🇲🇾 Unity in Diversity: The Soul of Malaysia

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Sufian warmly welcomed the guests, highlighting that Malaysia’s true strength since independence has always stemmed from its rich cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity.
He emphasized that the national theme for this year, “Malaysia Madani – Care for the People,” reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring the well-being of all Malaysians while upholding compassion, unity, and shared prosperity — values that equally inspire Malaysia’s relations with the world, particularly with its close friend Egypt.

💼 A Strategic Partnership Renewed

The ambassador traced the roots of Malaysia–Egypt relations, which date back 66 years, underscoring that cooperation now extends across trade, education, energy, culture, artificial intelligence, and digital economy.
He revealed that bilateral trade reached nearly USD 1 billion in 2024, marking a 30% increase from the previous year, and proudly noted that Cairo hosts Malaysia’s largest diplomatic presence in Africa — a testament to the growing strength of the partnership.

🚗 Economic and Educational Synergies

Ambassador Sufian highlighted tangible models of cooperation, including the revival of Proton cars in Egypt through collaboration with the Ezz El-Arab Group, and Petronas’s continued role as a major Malaysian investor in Egypt’s oil and gas sector.
On the educational front, he noted that over 6,000 Malaysian students study in Egyptian universities, while around 3,000 Egyptians pursue higher education in Malaysia — “a living bridge of knowledge and friendship,” he said.

🕊️ Shared Humanitarian Vision

The ambassador also praised the close cooperation between Malaysia and Egypt within the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, especially in supporting the Palestinian cause and the two-state solution.
He commended Egypt’s humanitarian mediation in Rafah, noting that Malaysia has delivered over 110 tons of aid worth USD 2.3 million since last year and provided medical treatment to 127 injured Palestinians.

🌏 Towards Regional Leadership

Ambassador Sufian announced that Malaysia will chair ASEAN in 2025 under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability”, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to peace, sustainable growth, and regional cooperation.
He also invited the guests to visit Malaysia in 2026, promising them a taste of “the real Asia” through its warmth, beauty, and diversity, symbolized by the campaign mascots “Wira & Manja – the Malayan Sun Bears.”

🇪🇬 Egypt’s Message: A Partnership of Values and Vision

Representing the Egyptian government, H.E. Dr. Sherif Farouk conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to the Malaysian government and people, expressing Egypt’s pride in its long-standing friendship with Malaysia.
He emphasized that the ties between both nations are not merely diplomatic, but rather a partnership in values, a convergence of vision, and a shared commitment to development and justice.

🌿 Economic Growth and Shared Futures

Dr. Farouk recalled that Egypt and Malaysia have worked hand in hand since the mid-20th century, when Cairo welcomed thousands of Malaysian students at Al-Azhar University and national institutions — a bond that has evolved into deep cultural and intellectual cooperation.
He highlighted expanding collaboration in food industries, halal production, renewable energy, logistics, and integrated trade zones, inviting Malaysian investors to explore new opportunities in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, a gateway to African and Arab markets.

The minister also praised Malaysia’s green economy and technology leadership, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable and inclusive growth.

🤝 A Celebration of Friendship and Promise

The evening concluded in a spirit of joy and cultural warmth, featuring the aromas of Rendang and Satay, echoing Malaysia’s vibrant heritage.
Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to deepen their strategic partnership, strengthen cultural and economic ties, and build a shared future rooted in history, respect, and mutual prosperity.
