Cairo — Under the banner of “A New Birth,” the 12th International Conference of the Organization of Afro-Asian Peoples’ Solidarity (AAPSO) will convene in Cairo on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., under the patronage of Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Egyptians Abroad.

The conference will be chaired by Ambassador Mohamed El-Orabi, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, President of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, and current President of the AAPSO, as well as a member of the Egyptian Senate. Representatives from solidarity committees across Arab, African, and Asian nations will attend — reaffirming Cairo’s historic role as the beating heart of South–South cooperation.

Journalist Abdel Qader Shehieb, Chairman of the Egyptian Afro-Asian Solidarity Committee, stated that the conference will endorse the Egyptian committee’s nomination of Ambassador El-Orabi as President of the Organization, in addition to electing a new Secretary-General from two nominees: Talie Al-Saud Al-Atlasi of Morocco and Mohamed Ihsan of Iraq.

The conference will also address current developments in the Middle East, highlighting Egypt’s leading diplomatic efforts, which have culminated in the signing of the agreement to end the war on Gaza — a landmark step symbolizing the “new birth” of peace, solidarity, and human dignity across regions.
