Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received a cordial telephone call from the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, this evening — a conversation that echoed friendship, shared vision, and a yearning for peace in turbulent times.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude for the warm hospitality extended during his recent visit to Kuala Lumpur, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif noted that the mutual understandings reached — particularly in the domains of halal meat exports and other collaborative ventures — have elevated Pakistan–Malaysia relations to new heights of trust and cooperation.
The two leaders also exchanged views on pressing regional developments. Prime Minister Sharif briefed his Malaysian counterpart on his participation in the Gaza Peace Agreement signing ceremony held in Sharm El-Sheikh. Both leaders welcomed this vital initiative, voicing their collective hope that it would bring an immediate end to the suffering of the Palestinian people, guarantee unhindered humanitarian access, and pave the path toward enduring peace and stability in the Middle East.
Turning to regional security, the Pakistani Premier apprised Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of the situation along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, emphasizing that while Pakistan remains steadfast in its desire for peace in Afghanistan, it continues to endure cross-border terrorism emanating from Afghan territory. He called upon the Afghan authorities to take decisive and effective measures to dismantle terrorist networks — including Fitna-al-Khwarij, Fitna-al-Hindustan, TTP, and BLA — that threaten peace and stability across the region.
Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed that Pakistan had agreed to a temporary ceasefire at the request of Afghan authorities to facilitate dialogue in Doha, but underscored that words must be followed by tangible action.
In response, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his concern over these developments and conveyed Malaysia’s readiness to play a constructive role in easing tensions and fostering regional harmony.
Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact, nurturing the enduring spirit of brotherhood and mutual understanding that binds Pakistan and Malaysia.
