In a testament to the enduring bonds between Cairo and Kuala Lumpur, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call today from Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that Prime Minister Anwar began the conversation by congratulating President El-Sisi on Egypt’s tireless efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, praising the nation’s historic role in steering the region toward peace. He also commended Egypt’s successful organization of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, reaffirming Malaysia’s full support for Egypt’s diplomatic endeavors aimed at ending the war.
President El-Sisi, for his part, reviewed the outcomes of the Summit and Egypt’s coordinated mediation to implement the first phase of the U.S. President’s plan for halting hostilities in Gaza. He expressed his deep appreciation for Malaysia’s steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian cause, noting the shared vision of both nations on the urgent need to launch a genuine political process leading to an independent Palestinian state—one rooted in justice, legitimacy, and the right of self-determination.
Reaffirming Egypt’s pivotal humanitarian role, President El-Sisi announced Cairo’s readiness to host the International Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction of Gaza. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed the initiative, confirming Malaysia’s eagerness to participate and contribute to reconstruction and humanitarian relief in full coordination with Egypt.
The two leaders also reviewed the trajectory of bilateral ties, with President El-Sisi expressing his appreciation for Prime Minister Anwar’s 2024 visit to Egypt, which marked a milestone in strengthening cooperation. Both sides agreed to deepen political, trade, and economic partnerships, while exploring new horizons in entrepreneurship, industry, energy, tourism, pharmaceuticals, and private sector collaboration—cementing a relationship built not only on shared interests but on shared values of peace, development, and mutual respect.
