In a moving display of Arab solidarity, the Embassy of the State of Qatar reaffirmed Doha’s commitment to cooperate with Egypt in meeting the urgent humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza. The announcement came during a conference organized by the Qatari Embassy in Cairo under the theme “Qatari–Egyptian Cooperation to Support Gaza,” attended by senior officials from both nations.
The event brought together H.E. Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of State for International Cooperation, H.E. Dr. Maya Morsi, Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity, Amb. Nabila Makram, Head of the Technical Secretariat of Egypt’s National Alliance for Civil Development Work, and Mohamed Al-Bishri, Assistant Secretary-General of the Qatar Red Crescent, alongside representatives of civil society and the diplomatic community.
In her remarks, Dr. Al-Misnad emphasized that Qatari–Egyptian efforts to support Gaza have remained steadfast since the very first days of the conflict, as the Palestinian people continue to suffer from severe shortages of food, water, medicine, and shelter.
“We welcome this noble humanitarian partnership between the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt, which has enabled the delivery of essential food and medical aid — including infant formula — to our brothers and sisters in Gaza, coinciding with the first phase of the ceasefire agreement after more than two years of suffering,”
said Dr. Al-Misnad.
She added:
“In response to urgent needs, Qatar has launched a land bridge to deliver humanitarian assistance through Jordan and Egypt. The aid has now reached Egyptian territory in preparation for entry into Gaza. This cooperation reflects the deep fraternal ties between our two countries and our shared humanitarian responsibility toward the Palestinian people.”
Dr. Al-Misnad also commended the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit for its positive outcomes in alleviating Gaza’s suffering, expressing hope that it will pave the way for future consensus leading to a comprehensive and just resolution to the Palestinian issue — one that ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
For her part, Dr. Maya Morsi stressed that this collaboration embodies the unity of Egyptian and Qatari positions in confronting the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. She praised the joint relief and reconstruction efforts, particularly the Gaza Reconstruction Committee, which began clearing debris and reopening roads last week to ensure the rapid and safe delivery of aid.
The Qatari Embassy in Cairo further underscored that statistics fail to capture the true scale of Gaza’s suffering, citing Palestinian Ministry of Health data indicating the death of 157 children due to malnutrition — a figure that calls for continued and intensified Arab humanitarian action.
The Embassy concluded by reaffirming that Qatari–Egyptian cooperation is not momentary but a continuation of deeply rooted bilateral relations characterized by understanding and shared purpose.
“Together, we build bridges of mercy across the rivers of pain.”
