The European Union Ambassador to Cairo, Angelina Eichhorst, affirmed that Egypt is a close partner and friend of the European Union.
In her speech during the celebration held on Sunday evening to mark the 75th anniversary of Europe Day, Ambassador Eichhorst stated that “Egypt holds a special place for the EU. Today, we are celebrating not only our historical relations but also our dynamic and evolving partnership.”
She praised the deep historical ties between Egypt and the EU across various levels, highlighting the 75-year history of the European Union, and noted with pride the growing leadership roles held by women within the Union.
For his part, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, expressed his happiness to participate in the 75th Europe Day celebration, extending his congratulations to the European Union on the occasion.
He emphasized the long-standing and dynamic relationship between Egypt and the EU, which was upgraded last year to a comprehensive strategic partnership. He also commended the strong economic cooperation between the two sides, reflected in the success of the Egypt-EU Investment Conference held in Cairo last year. Additionally, he highlighted the coordination between Egypt and the EU in addressing crises in various regions, particularly Sudan.
The celebration opened with the national anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt followed by the European anthem, in the presence of a wide array of distinguished attendees. Among the key figures present were Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health; Counselor Mahmoud Fawzy, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs; Dr. Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Trade; Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development; Sameh El-Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation; Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply; and Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo. The event also welcomed numerous diplomats, media professionals, business leaders, and political figures.
