Statement and Condemnation: Warnings Against Expanding the Conflict
Following the attack, Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (LAS), expressed his strongest condemnation of the targeting of the two ships at the port of Damietta on July 29, which was confirmed by the Egyptian Cabinet to be the result of a drone strike.
Fahmy emphasized that this attack constitutes an unacceptable and condemned aggression against Egyptian assets. He warned of the consequences of desperate and cowardly attempts by certain parties to expand the regional conflict and engage in uncalculated adventures.
Fahmy reaffirmed that attacks on Arab states are completely unacceptable under any circumstances. He highlighted Egypt’s clear role since the beginning of the ongoing war last February in working earnestly and continuously to find an exit from the escalating crisis, advocating among all parties for de-escalation on a basis that ends aggression and safeguards the security, sovereignty, and stability of Arab nations and the region as a whole.
