In a warm atmosphere filled with nostalgia and ambition, the Russian House in Cairo welcomed Dr. Vadim Zaitchikov, the newly appointed Director of Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt. Zaitchikov expressed his great joy at returning to work in Egypt after twenty years, recalling his previous role as Deputy Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Alexandria back in 2005.

The introductory meeting, moderated by Sherif Gad, Director of Cultural Activities at the Russian House, was attended by a distinguished gathering of Egyptian cultural, academic, and artistic figures. Among them were Dr. Sherif Sedky, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency; Dr. Raouf Saad, Egypt’s former Ambassador to Moscow; Dr. Karma Sami, President of the National Center for Translation; Dr. Venus Fouad, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Culture; as well as representatives of cultural associations, members of the Egyptian–Russian Friendship Society, and media outlets from both countries.

In his address, Zaitchikov noted that the large turnout reflects a growing interest in cultural relations between Egypt and Russia, aligning with his vision to expand cooperation in culture, education, and the arts. He emphasized his commitment to building academic bridges between Egyptian and Russian universities, initiating new projects in vocational education, and reviving Russian film screenings at the Russian House.

He also confirmed continued cooperation with organizations such as the Graduates Association, the Egyptian–Russian Friendship Society, the High Dam Builders Association, and the Academy of Arts, while exploring new partnerships with Egyptian cultural institutions.

For his part, Dr. Sherif Sedky welcomed further collaboration with Russia in the field of space exploration, noting the broad prospects for scientific and cultural partnership.

The event concluded with a musical performance: Egyptian singer and composer Mohamed Ezzat presented two pieces from Egypt’s musical heritage, followed by opera singer Sherif Carlos performing the famous Russian folk song “Kalinka” — a symbolic harmony of the two cultures.
