The Giza Pyramids area welcomed today H.E. Mr. Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, and his accompanying delegation. The visit took place on the sidelines of his official trip to Egypt to participate in the 4th Ministerial Meeting on Tourism Cooperation of the Developing-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8), hosted and chaired by Egypt in Cairo over the past two days. The event falls within Egypt’s chairmanship of the organization from May 2024 to December 2025.
Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, received the Turkish Minister and guided the delegation on a tour of the archaeological site. During the visit, he provided historical and archaeological explanations about the area’s monuments, most notably the Great Pyramid of Khufu—the only remaining Wonder of the Ancient World—and the iconic Sphinx.
Minister Ersoy expressed deep admiration for the Giza Plateau, hailing the magnificence of the site and the profound legacy of ancient Egyptian civilization. He praised the ingenuity of the ancient Egyptians in constructing the pyramids and sculpting the Sphinx.
