Egypt participates in RAF & NE

The activities of the International Youth Conference “Russia-Africa Forum (RAF), Nuclear Education (NE)and the Possibility of Successful Development in the Region” will begin in Moscow at ten in the morning on Friday, February 28. The conference will be held at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in the capital, Moscow. The conference will address the importance of nuclear education in contributing to development in Africa. Tatiana Terentyeva, Deputy Director of Rosatom, which is supervising the construction of the Dabaa project in Egypt, will participate in the conference, as will Dr. Vladimir Filippov, former Minister of Education and President of the Russian Peoples’ Friendship University. Alexander Babakov, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federal Council, Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Pavel Shvetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Federal Agency for International Cooperation, Tatiana Dovgalenko, Ambassador for Special Assignments and Director of the Department of Partnership with Africa, will also participate. Presidents of universities from Namibia, Mali, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Cameroon, Benin and Kenya will also participate. From Egypt, Sherif Gad, President of the Egyptian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities, Secretary General of the Egyptian-Russian Friendship Association and Ambassador of Russian Education and Science, will participate. Gad will give a speech about Egyptian-Russian cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy production and the experience of preparing Egyptian cadres in Russia with the aim of returning to work in the Dabaa project. Gad will discuss the capabilities that Russia provides for Egyptian engineers to receive practical training in Russian nuclear reactors before returning to Egypt. A roundtable discussion entitled “The Role of Graduates in Development in the Region” will be held on the sidelines of the conference, where participants will discuss the role of graduates of Russian universities in their various specializations in contributing to development projects in their countries. The conference will be moderated by Dr. Larisa Efremova, Director of the Center for Initiative Projects at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia.
