On meeting the Burundian foreign Minister two days ago, Samuh Shokry confirmed Cairo’s support to Burundi.
The ambassador Mr Ahmed AboZade, Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry announced Shokry’s meeting with his Burundian counterpart Ezechiel Nibigira on the sidelines of the meetings of the Executive Committee of the African Union held in Nouakchott.
“Egypt is keen on supporting Burundi in the various domains, includin
g peace and security, without interference in its internal affairs”, said Shokry.
For his part, Nibigria thanked Shokry on Egypt’s positive roles towards his country, especially where it always defended Burundi’s interests.
Nibigira reviewed the developments in Burundi including the results of a recent referendum on the constitution, in which 96% voters participated.
In addition, Nibigira lauded the level of relations maintained by both of Egypt & Burund.
