Saudi Heritage Authority organizes its annual lectures at UNESCO

The Heritage Authority is organizing a lecture on Saudi urban heritage, in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), next Monday at the organization’s headquarters in Paris, with the participation of an elite group of specialists and executives in the field of urban heritage in the Kingdom.

  Through these lectures, the Authority aims to introduce urban heritage and its connection to Saudi cultural identity, in addition to highlighting the Kingdom’s heritage and pride in it as a national and global wealth, and working to strengthen the partnership with UNESCO and international organizations, as well as activating partnerships locally and globally with think tanks in order to strengthen the foundations of the Authority. .

  The Heritage Authority’s program includes four lectures, through which it discusses the Authority’s paths and initiatives on urban heritage, based on methods of material and intangible preservation of urban heritage in the first lecture, and aspects of development in traditional Al-Ahsa architecture in the second lecture.

  It also presents the role of international architects in shaping contemporary architecture in the Kingdom in the third lecture. The fourth lecture will be the conclusion of the series of lectures held, as it deals with World Heritage sites in Saudi Arabia. To introduce it, highlight it, and reveal some of its stories.

  The Heritage Authority explained that presenting its lectures at UNESCO is the result of its tireless efforts and constant keenness to preserve and develop national and global heritage, stressing that these efforts stem from the national strategy for culture emerging from the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and as part of its efforts to introduce the heritage sector in the Kingdom in international forums.
