
Nouakchott – Musa Bihly
In a move reflecting the depth of cultural and historical ties between Mauritania and Egypt, the two countries signed two executive programs on cultural and media cooperation, in addition to a memorandum of understanding for the return of the historic library of renowned Mauritanian scholar, Muhammad Mahmoud Ould At-Tlamid.
The agreements were signed during a meeting in Nouakchott between Mauritania’s Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Government Spokesman, H.E. El Hussein Ould Meddou, and Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Expatriates, H.E. Badr Abdelatty, who is leading a high-level delegation as part of the Second Session of the Joint Mauritanian-Egyptian Committee.

The discussions focused on enhancing cultural and media collaboration and reinforcing the exchange of expertise to serve mutual interests.
🏛️ A Symbolic Return of Heritage
The planned return of the library belonging to Ould At-Tlamid, a towering figure of Islamic scholarship, is a milestone in preserving shared intellectual heritage and elevating knowledge-based cooperation between the two nations.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials, including the Secretary-General of Mauritania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mauritania’s Ambassador to Egypt, and the Director of External Relations at the Ministry of Culture.
