Former League of Arab States Secretary-General Amr Moussa has returned to Cairo following an official visit to Baku, Azerbaijan, where he participated in high-level international meetings hosted by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center.
During a roundtable discussion on climate leadership and the post-COP31 global trajectory, Moussa underscored that climate change has transcended environmental and economic boundaries, evolving into a paramount political and security crisis that directly impacts international peace and stability.
He called for a comprehensive reform of the multilateral international system to address emerging global threats, highlighting climate disruption and global health crises. Moussa urged both the UN General Assembly and the Security Council to place the security implications of climate change at the top of their agendas.
Despite current geopolitical fragmentation, Moussa emphasized that climate action offers a rare nexus for global consensus—a shared platform to foster unity against a common threat to humanity’s collective future.
Moussa’s engagement in Baku reflects his ongoing diplomatic presence in international forums and his continued work as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center.
