NEW DELHI — Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, met with his Indian counterpart, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, on Sunday, September 13, on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi. The ministers explored strategies to deepen bilateral ties and reviewed pressing regional developments of mutual concern.
Both ministers praised the remarkable progress in Egyptian-Indian relations in recent years, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing the Strategic Partnership established in 2023 for the benefit of both friendly nations. They commended the outcomes of the first Strategic Dialogue held in New Delhi in October 2025, emphasizing the need to build upon these results and sustain momentum through frequent high-level visits and regular consultation mechanisms.
Turning to regional affairs amid rapid geopolitical shifts, the ministers stressed the urgency of intensifying diplomatic efforts and supporting political solutions to de-escalate tensions. Dr. Abdelatty reiterated the critical importance of preventing military escalation, prioritizing diplomacy, and safeguarding freedom of navigation.
