On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, held a phone conversation with Mr. Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, to discuss the latest developments in the regional situation.
During the call, Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s firm position on the importance of respecting the sovereignty of Gulf states and other brotherly Arab countries. He condemned any violation of their unity and territorial integrity, stressing the necessity of upholding the principle of good neighborliness.
Minister Abdelatty welcomed the ceasefire agreement announced earlier that morning by the U.S. President, viewing it as a pivotal step toward containing the recent escalation and tensions in the region. He emphasized the need for both Israeli and Iranian sides to commit to the agreement as a means to restore stability and re-open avenues for political and diplomatic solutions.
He also underscored the critical importance of restraint during this sensitive period and called for both parties to take concrete and practical measures that contribute to de-escalation. He reiterated Egypt’s commitment to continuing coordination and consultation with all regional and international partners in support of regional peace and security.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed his country’s respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar and all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. He also reiterated Iran’s commitment to the principle of good neighborly relations. Both ministers agreed to continue working together to reduce tensions in the region.
