On the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 22nd, Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Sameh Shoukry met with representatives of American Jewish organizations.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the two sides expressed their pride in this year as it represents the centenary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and the United States, stressing the historical partnership based on cooperation and common interest, as well as the importance of developing relations between the two countries in all its aspects. political, economic and cultural.

The meeting also witnessed a discussion on the latest developments on the international and regional arenas, as well as the challenges facing the current international scene from various interrelated issues such as climate change, and the food and energy crises, where the importance of continuing work and coordination between Egypt and the United States of America was emphasized in order to meet the challenges that faced by the region, and to reduce the negative effects of the crises witnessed in the regional and international environments and their growing repercussions.

Ambassador Abu Zeid revealed that the meeting witnessed a discussion on developments related to the peace process, where the Foreign Minister stressed the need to resolve the current stalemate in the file of the peace process by resuming negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides as soon as possible with the aim of achieving a two-state solution, reviewing Egypt’s efforts Its main role is to stop the recent escalation in the Gaza Strip and to establish a truce in order to prevent a renewal of violence and a deterioration of the situation.
