With an increase of 40 tons over last year, wheat harvesting operations continue in the state of Manah in a number of village farms in the state, especially in the Awija agricultural area, where farmers began harvesting with the help of harvesting mechanisms and manpower.

Muhammad bin Harib Al-Bahlani, Director of the Department of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in the Wilayat of Manah, confirmed that the department distributed this year 500 kg of wheat varieties, and the cultivated area reached 10 acres within the extension program, and the number of beneficiaries reached 14 farmers, and there are farmers outside the program who provided the seeds themselves and cultivated an area not less than 150 acres, explaining that the cultivation of the wheat crop took place in each of the villages of Karsha, Ma’mad, Al-Muhayl, Al-Bilad, Al-Ma’arri, Abu Khaila, Ezz, and Al-Awija region, which acquired the largest areas of cultivation for this economic crop. Al-Bahlani added: The cultivation of wheat is widespread, as farmers start harvesting from November to March of each year, and wheat is harvested in a number of villages in the state using modern machines of all kinds instead of the traditional method, but some use manual methods. The cultivation of the wheat crop is one of the important crops that are well cultivated in the state due to the abundance of water and the validity of the soil and the interest of farmers in this crop. The area of cultivated land and productivity varies due to the climatic conditions in each region. Before the start of the wheat-growing season, technicians in the department make field visits to all villages and regions of the state. To inspect the farms, provide advice and guidance to farmers, and then start distributing the available grain varieties to farmers wishing to grow the wheat crop. Stressing the importance of benefiting from the support provided by the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources from improved seeds and preserving seeds for the next year.
