Ambassador of Turkey Salih Mutlu Şen praises Egypt-Turkey cooperation in textiles and expects more prosperous future

* Turkish companies promote and add value to the “Made in Egypt” brand

Accompanied by a large group of Egyptian journalists, Turkish Ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Şen visited the Akay Ready-Made Garments Factory in Port Said, which produces Mavi Jeans, one of the leading brands in clothing and blue jeans in Turkey.

During the visit, information was provided about the factory’s production capacity, quality and product range. ‎

Ambassador Shen explained that the factory employs approximately 1,500 Egyptian workers, technicians, engineers and managers, adding, “The factory produces jeans only for the Turkish national brand Mavi Jeans and the world-famous luxury jeans brand HUGO BOSS.

The annual production capacity is 2.5 million pieces of jeans. The Mavi Jeans factory was established in Port Said with investments of $35 million, all with Turkish capital. The factory also plans to increase its capacity with an additional investment of about $15 million.

Mavi Jeans is one of the most important jeans and clothing brands in Turkey and has stores in every city in Turkey. It designs and markets products under its own brand, whether in the field of underwear or outerwear. Mavi Jeans is also known for its brand in America, Europe and other countries of the world.”

During the statements made by Ambassador Salih Mutlu Shen during the visit, he explained that Mavi Jeans is One of the global brands in Turkey, just like Beko, Hayat Kimya and Pasha Bahce, indicating that Turkish manufacturers have chosen Egypt as a base for their production, especially in the production of jeans fabrics and the manufacture of jeans trousers and jackets.

He stated that jeans fabric producers in Egypt provide a large part of Egypt’s total jeans production, and that they not only provide fabric to blue jeans manufacturers in Egypt, but also export fabric to the whole world.

Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen stated that Akay Tekstil Company directs almost all of its production to export, stressing that the cooperation of Turkish companies with Egypt in the field of textiles through exports, imports and investments will grow increasingly during the next 5, 10 and 20 years, and will continue to bring employment opportunities and exports to Egypt.

Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen said that this relationship is based on a win-win approach for both parties, whether Turkish companies or Egypt, adding that the Turkish brand Mavi Jeans has attracted attention all over the world with the “Made in Egypt” label. Turkish companies promote and add value to the “Made in Egypt” brand.
