On the Banks of the Nile… Cairo Celebrates China’s 76th National Day

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Cairo hosted a grand reception this evening to mark the 76th National Day, at a major Nile-side hotel in the Egyptian capital. The event drew a distinguished gathering of ministers, ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as leading figures from the media, cultural and academic spheres.

Festive Atmosphere and Messages of Friendship

The evening opened with the national anthems of Egypt and China, followed by a video presentation highlighting China’s modern renaissance and its growing role on the global stage. The hall was adorned with the colors of the Chinese flag, reflecting the depth of friendship binding the two nations.

Ambassador’s Address: A Partnership Across Eras

In his keynote speech, Ambassador Liao Liqiang reviewed the milestones of the strategic partnership between Egypt and China, noting that the relationship has transcended the bilateral scope to become a model of comprehensive cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, renewable energy, and infrastructure.
He praised Egypt’s pivotal role in the “Belt and Road Initiative,” emphasizing that Cairo and Beijing are advancing together along a path that promotes regional development and shared prosperity.

Egypt–China: Cultural and Human Bridges

The celebration also underscored cultural and educational ties, with the Ambassador highlighting the growing number of Egyptian students in Chinese universities, as well as the dynamic artistic and tourism exchanges between the two countries.

Wide Attendance and Symbolic Significance

The reception witnessed the presence of prominent Egyptian, Arab, and international guests—reflecting China’s rising global standing and Egypt’s firm commitment to strengthening its historic partnership with Beijing.

The evening concluded with a traditional Sino–Egyptian dinner, symbolizing a “civilizational encounter” linking the banks of the Nile to the Great Wall of China.
