In words filled with sincerity and reverence, the Ambassador of Türkiye to Egypt, Salih Mutlu Şen, extended his heartfelt condolences on the passing of Issam Abdelbasit Abdulsamad, son of the legendary Egyptian Qur’an reciter Sheikh Abdelbasit Abdulsamad, whose timeless voice still resonates across the Islamic world.
Ambassador Şen said:
“In Türkiye, we hold a deep respect and admiration for the Egyptian recitation of the Holy Qur’an—especially that of Sheikh Abdelbasit Abdulsamad. My generation, including myself, grew up listening to his magnificent voice, drawing inspiration and serenity from it. Many of today’s Turkish leaders were also raised admiring and inspired by his recitations.”
He added:
“I will be meeting Mr. Tarek Abdelbasit Abdulsamad, the brother of the deceased, at the Embassy. The family of Sheikh Abdelbasit is very dear to us, and I shall, insha’Allah, attend the taziye to offer my condolences. May Allah bestow His mercy upon his soul.”
