The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque provided a robot in (11) languages to receive visitors to the King Abdulaziz Compound for the Kiswa ,(cover) of the Holy Kaaba, and it is a robot through which visitors are welcomed and the services provided in the complex are introduced.
The robot aims to promote the use of technologies that support the direction of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and is considered a polarizing factor within the complex, as it can speak in more than one language throughout the day without stopping.
The robot includes many specifications related to visitor service, including the ability to recognize basic emotions, the ability to recognize faces and voice interaction with visitors through touch and hand movement. Among the most prominent technical specifications of the robot is that its weight reaches 29 kg, and the battery life is 8 hours. And the charging time is 8 hours and its speed is 3 km / h, and the device can be operated without stopping when it is connected to electricity.
It is mentioned that the project was carried out on several steps in order to benefit from it with the maximum benefit, the first step is collecting the needs and requirements for the robot, then the initial development of the required solutions, then presentation, testing and collecting feedback, then modification based on the feedback, then its presentation and approval, and finally the operation and launch of the robot.
