Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, has approved a reduction in the fare for buses transporting visitors to the **57th Cairo International Book Fair to EGP 10 per one-way trip.
The governor stated that a dedicated fleet of buses operated by the Cairo Public Transport Authority (CPTA) will serve fairgoers throughout the event, which will be held from January 21 to February 3, 2026, under the patronage of Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, at the Egypt International Exhibitions Center in New Cairo.
He added that **60 buses—subject to increase as needed—**will be deployed to cover most districts across Cairo, in addition to the regular routes passing by the exhibition center.
Major General Essam El-Sheikh, Chairman of the CPTA, noted that all dedicated buses will display signs reading “Book Fair Service.” He explained that services will be intensified on high-demand routes to ease congestion, reduce crowding, and shorten headways.
The CPTA has designated seven special routes for transporting visitors to and from the fair:
- Route 1: Abdel Moneim Riad Square – Ramses – Abbasiya – Al-Azhar University – El-Moshir Axis – Book Fair (10 buses)
- Route 2: Shubra Roundabout – Shubra Street – Ahmed Helmy Square – Ramses Street – Abbasiya – El-Sikka Club – Al-Azhar University – El-Moshir Axis – Book Fair (10 buses)
- Route 3: New Nozha – Al-Hegaz Square – Seven Buildings – Makram Ebeid – Mostafa El-Nahas – Al-Manhal – Al-Wafaa & Al-Amal – Book Fair (8 buses)
- Route 4: Al-Amiriya – Al-Matariya Square – Al-Helmiya – Ain Shams Girls’ College – Hisham Barakat Square – Seventh District – Embassy District – Book Fair (7 buses)
- Route 5: Giza Square – Cairo University – Qasr Al-Aini – Sayeda Aisha – Autostrad – Al-Azhar University – Book Fair (10 buses)
- Route 6: Saqr Quraish – Carrefour Maadi – Wadi Degla Club – Ring Road – El-Moshir Axis – Book Fair (7 buses)
- Route 7: Al-Mazallat – Saray Al-Qobba – Roxy – Seven Buildings – Eighth District – Al-Wafaa & Al-Amal – El-Moshir Axis – Book Fair (8 buses)
The initiative aims to facilitate access to the fair, enhance visitor comfort, and ensure smooth transportation throughout the event.
