In continuation of his meetings on the sidelines of the extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, met with Mr. Bakhtiyar Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, on Friday, March 7, 2025.
Minister Abdel Aati pointed out the importance of utilizing the current momentum witnessed by bilateral relations between the two countries to advance them in various areas of cooperation, especially with regard to the trade and investment levels. He noted the priority that the Egyptian side attaches to building on what was agreed upon during the eleventh round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, which was held in Tashkent in September 2024, as well as during the meetings of the seventh session of the Egyptian-Uzbek Joint Committee for Economic and Technical Cooperation in December 2024.
In a related context, the two sides discussed the importance of continuing efforts to enhance joint cooperation between the Egyptian and Uzbek business communities, as the Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the interest of the Egyptian business community in several areas, most notably textiles, infrastructure, and food industries, in addition to implementing joint manufacturing projects with Uzbek companies in Egypt. The two sides also discussed opportunities to enhance joint cooperation in the pharmaceutical field, whether by facilitating the access of Egyptian pharmaceutical products to the Uzbek market, or in relation to exploring investment and joint manufacturing opportunities with the aim of localizing pharmaceutical industries in Uzbekistan.
