Sunrise… A Love That Never Fades, and the Nile as Witness

Listen to this article

Poetry: Ashraf AboArafe

The sunrise over Cairo was not merely light crossing the sky,
but a crown of radiance adorning the earth with beauty and grace…

On the banks of the Nile River,
where dawn seems to purify itself in love,
we stood together—
racing the sun toward the meeting,
while the soul arrived before us in stillness…

Birds flew above,
writing hymns of joy with their wings,
as if crowning the moment with prayer-like flight…

Fish rose to the surface,
as though blessing love itself,
sanctifying a meeting time shall never erase…

Grass danced upon the breath of spring,
like a dervish lost in beauty,
until the earth itself seemed to pray in joy…

The breeze passed between us like a messenger of affection,
resting upon two hearts that chose to become one homeland…

Even the moon—
for a moment—
left its orbit and lingered in the sky,
as if it refused to miss witnessing love…

And the universe became one single scene,
whispering your name in sacred silence,
writing with light a story that never fades…

Glory be to the One who perfected all creation,
set life upon wisdom,
and filled the world with a light that never fades…

On the banks of the Nile River,
sound fades, meaning rises,
and the heart bows in silent contemplation…

O Lord,
grant us insight into the beauty of Your creation,
reflection upon Your signs,
and light in every human encounter…

Amen, Lord of the worlds…
