M. Jahangir Khan
The air at the Keranigonj Railway Station grew heavy with purpose on the morning of 3 April 2026, as the legacy of a distant leader met the unwavering resolve of the local earth. Marking the 13th Anniversary of the passing of Commander Hugo Chávez, a sea of weathered hands and determined voices rose not just in memory, but in active defiance.
The Bangladesh Tri Continental Solidarity Campaign for Venezuela, alongside the Daily Folk Commander Hugo Chávez Memorial Media and Cultural Centre, transformed the bustling transit hub into a theater of internationalist spirit.
The Rally at a Glance
-
The Command: Led by Dr. M. Jahangir Khan, President of the Solidarity Campaign.
-
The Assembly: A powerful gathering of local peasants and farmers, bridging the gap between the rice fields of Bangladesh and the plains of Venezuela.
-
The Call to Action: A thunderous demand for the immediate freedom and sovereignty of President Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores.
A Testament of Ten Thousand
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of a monumental signature campaign. Dr. Khan presented the names of 10,000 Bangladeshi farmers—a rhythmic scroll of solidarity etched in ink. These signatures represent a bridge of brotherhood, proving that the struggle for land, dignity, and leadership resonates as deeply in Mirzapur Tegoria as it does in Caracas.
“The heart of a peasant knows no borders; the struggle for sovereignty is a song sung in every tongue.”
Legacy in Motion
By starting the rally at 11 am in the heart of the community, the organizers ensured that the message was heard by the everyday worker. As the 13th year since Chávez’s demise is marked, this event serves as a reminder that for the people of Keranigonj, the “Commander” is not a figure of the past, but a living inspiration for the present struggle.
