Poetry: Ashraf AboArafe
I am the Nile, and History flows within my tears,
While generations of time bow where my currents rest.
I have witnessed eras illuminated by true knowledge,
Never was I a single day apart from learning’s brilliant crest.
And today, “Cairo” shines bright with a grand assembly,
Gathering the very heart of the Arabic tongue in the finest crest.
I listened closely as the world echoed our great symbol,
The emblem of “IUTD” rising high into the cloud.
I saw “The International Union” building our great bridges,
From the Arabian Gulf to my most magnificent sea, proud.
Led by a hand of wise and profound vision,
And Der’e Al-Dossary remains the pillar and reference of my crowd.
They arrived, and the venerable scholars beamed with youthful energy,
For life is a river, and like Training, its path widens and grows.
I saw ambassadors and leaders gathering in harmony,
So that our dream of tomorrow, through Development, stands strong against foes.
I am the Nile, and I bear witness to you all: whoever rests on their past…
Their gardens shall wither where the source of the river flows.
