UNDER a warm and resonant slogan—“No Matter How Far We Drift, Egypt Brings Us Closer”—Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, inaugurated the 7th edition of the “Egyptian Expatriates Conference.” Taking place on August 2 and 3, 2026, the national gathering brings together minds, experiences, and hearts on native soil, embodying the deep-rooted spirit of belonging.
The opening session welcomed a distinguished assembly of state officials and leaders alongside more than 1,000 Egyptian expatriates hailing from over 30 countries. Attended by cabinet ministers, heads of national councils, parliamentarians, and media representatives, the event served as a powerful reminder that no distance can sever the bond between a heart and its homeland.
A Clear Message: The Homeland Is One Fabric
In a poignant moment during the opening, a recorded address by Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly was presented. He emphasized that Egyptians abroad are an essential lifeline of the nation and key partners in its developmental journey. He reaffirmed the government’s unyielding commitment to refining policies and initiatives that support expatriates, leveraging their expertise to enrich Egypt’s sustainable future.
echoing these sentiments, Dr. Abdel Aty highlighted in his speech that safeguarding the dignity, rights, and well-being of Egyptians abroad is a sacred national duty directed by the President of the Republic and closely monitored by the Prime Minister. He stressed that the voices and needs of the diaspora remain the guiding compass for the Ministry’s priorities and inter-agency coordination.
Tangible Progress: Digital Modernization Closing the Gap
The Foreign Minister showcased the significant milestones achieved over the past year to enhance consular services and ease the administrative journey for citizens abroad:

Digital Leap: Launching the first phase of an interactive web portal to digitize consular transactions.

Accelerated Delivery: Reducing passport issuance times to under two weeks and automated birth certificates to just 3–5 days.

Expanded Reach: Increasing authentication offices from 15 to nearly 40, including mobile units bringing services directly to citizens.
Unwavering Vigilance:
The Minister revealed the establishment of a 24/7 Crisis Cell working closely with Egyptian diplomatic and consular missions in regions facing security developments, ensuring immediate support and protection for every Egyptian citizen—resident or visitor—during emergencies.
Extending Impact: Action-Oriented Initiatives & Modernized Workshops
Highlighting the practical dimensions of connecting citizens to their homeland, the Minister reviewed the progress of flagship initiatives, including “Your Home in Egypt,” “Your Farm in Egypt,” “Open Your Account in Egypt,” “Your School in Egypt,” and “Your Treatment in Egypt,” alongside cultural salons and social protection programs.
