From the heart of Helwan, a university rises not only as a beacon of knowledge but as a steadfast defender of dignity. In response to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s call to empower women in every academic and research sphere, Helwan University—under the leadership of Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of the University—has transformed its campus into a living testament to inclusion, safety, and hope.

Here, the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit beats like a vigilant heart within the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector. Led with dedication by Dr. Walid El-Sorougy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and guided by the expertise of Dr. Samah Rabie, Professor of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine and Director of the Unit, the initiative reflects not just policies, but a moral compass pointing toward justice.

Their mission unfolds in many voices and actions:

  • Awareness woven with courage: seminars and workshops that give language to pain, confront harassment, and shed light on the shadows of digital abuse.
  • Empowerment rooted in equity: programs that open doors for girls with disabilities, reminding all that strength lies in diversity and opportunity.
  • Partnerships built on solidarity: alliances with the National Council for Women, civil society organizations, and research centers that extend the reach of Helwan’s voice into the wider community.

In every hall, in every classroom, these efforts whisper the same promise: that a woman’s right to safety, respect, and empowerment is non-negotiable.

Thus, Helwan University does not merely educate minds—it shelters aspirations, defends dignity, and carries forward a legacy where academia and humanity walk hand in hand.
