In the grand hall of Tajikistan’s Parliament, where words converge with the fate of nations, the first joint session of the National Council and the Assembly of Representatives, affiliated with the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan, convened on Tuesday, marking the opening of their seventh convocation and ushering in a politically significant moment.

During the session, President Emomali Rahmon delivered the state address entitled “On the Main Directions of the Domestic and Foreign Policy of the Republic of Tajikistan”, a speech that resonated as both a compass for the present and a vision cast toward the future.

Addressing the Assembly, the President outlined clear and concrete objectives aimed at the effective implementation of domestic and foreign policies, emphasizing that comprehensive development is forged through the harmony of multiple sectors. His roadmap encompassed industry, energy, and agriculture; the modernization of roads and transport; the strengthening of investment and entrepreneurship; and the advancement of education, science, and culture. Equal weight was given to healthcare and social protection, labor and employment, youth empowerment, sports and tourism, tax and customs reform, security and defense, and the consolidation of the rule of law.

The address further underscored the importance of nurturing friendly relations and expanding cooperation with foreign states, as well as international and regional organizations—affirming diplomacy as a natural extension of internal stability and national strength.

The session was attended by members of the National Council and deputies of the Assembly of Representatives, the Prime Minister and members of the government, the Head of the Executive Office of the President, ministers and heads of state committees, representatives of judicial and law-enforcement bodies, the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, higher education institutions, leaders of investment project implementation centers, former deputies of the sixteenth convocation of the Supreme Assembly, members of the People’s Council, the National Unity and Revival of Tajikistan Movement, and representatives of public, political, and creative associations.

Also present were heads of national institutions and companies, banks, a cross-section of business leaders, youth activists, alongside representatives of the diplomatic corps and the media—an attendance reflecting the breadth of the moment and the weight of a speech that sought not merely to be heard, but to chart a course for Tajikistan as it balances its inner foundations with its role on the global stage.
