China’s Ambassador to Cairo, Liao Liqiang, praised the opening of the Hong Kong Palace Museum’s exhibition “Hong Kong Forbidden City”, highlighting the grandeur of its newest showcase:
“Ancient Egyptian Civilization – Treasures from Egyptian Museums.”

He described the exhibition as “magnificent,” noting that it brings together 250 priceless artifacts, including the latest archaeological discoveries, drawn from seven major Egyptian museums—a shimmering tapestry of Egypt’s timeless heritage displayed on Asian shores.

According to a spokesperson for the Hong Kong Palace Museum, the exhibition stands as a landmark achievement in collaboration between the museum and Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, following their cooperation agreement signed in June this year.

Its inauguration comes at a symbolic moment, as China and Egypt prepare to celebrate the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2026—a milestone that reflects the two ancient civilizations’ enduring commitment to deepening cultural exchange and strengthening their bridge of friendship.
