120 participants in a live experiment to prepare traditional Korean dishes

Today, the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) opened the 2023 Culinary Academy Course, which will last for four weeks with the aim of spreading the culture of Korean food, Hansik, which is an essential part of Korean culture.

Among the 600 applicants, 120 people were accepted to participate in the course, which is supervised by Korean chef Hong Sung Hee, who is also an expert in food hygiene and responsible for quality control of a number of food companies.

Participants in the course will learn about the dining culture and experience the preparation of traditional Korean dishes that are famous for every region in South Korea, such as Bulogoggi, Kimbap and Sugibi. Participants will also learn about Korean street food, particularly takbokki. The center also plans to organize a competition for the participants after the end of the course, in which new recipes will be created by combining Korean food with Egyptian food.

For his part, Oh Seung-ho, director of the Korean Cultural Center, said that Koreans attach great importance to sharing food, and this is confirmed by the culture of “Banchan” side dishes that are served with meals and shared by everyone sitting at the dining table. One of the most famous is the kimchi dish, which is a Korean pickle.

In this spirit, the Korean Cultural Center seeks through the organization of the Korean Cooking Academy to share the culture of Korean food with Egyptians and introduce the traditions related to preparing and serving food in Korea.

The director of the center said that Korean food is popular in Egypt, especially among young people. Oh Seung-ho expressed his hope that this session will contribute to enhancing dialogue and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
