Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Egypt is following with interest and concern the developments in the situation in Niger, stressing the importance of adhering to dialogue to advance ways of a peaceful settlement of the crisis in a manner that guarantees the preservation of the security and safety of the state of Niger and its brotherly people.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman affirmed Egypt’s support for all efforts aimed at defusing the crisis in a way that preserves the democratic system, sovereignty and stability of Niger, and is consistent with the rules of international law, the Charter of the United Nations and the founding principles of the African Union, and in a way that prevents any escalation that may destabilize the security and stability of the region.
